From Cleveland, Ohio, Ashley Jackson is a painter whose work focuses on taking the world she creates through literary writings and then giving them a new meaning through visual language on a canvas. Jackson received her B.F.A in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting from Miami University. After taking an independent study course in illustration, where she was able to illustrate one of her completed narratives, titled, “Moments”, Jackson is exploring how to create a body of work where each individual painting is an expansion of different aspects of her narrative.
Recently, Jackson has been experimenting with collage and mixed media. Allowing the crisp lines and shapes created through collage to mesh with the fluid mark making abilities of ink, watercolor, and acrylics. This experimentation is now bleeding into her paintings and will hopefully add a new layer of story telling to her works. Her work has been shown at both the B.F.A Capstone Exhibition, “13 Most Wanted Artists”, as well as in “Creativity and Innovation: A Student Response Exhibition” at the Miami University Art Museum.
